SeaChange: A Night to Honor Seattle Aquarium’s Efforts for Ocean Ethics
Venture down to the Elliot Bay waterfront on Seattle’s Pier 59 and you’ll run into the Seattle Aquarium. Originally opened in 1977, the aquarium is a longstanding figure of the waterfront. While it offers entertainment and an opportunity for patrons to get up close with life under the sea, the Seattle Aquarium boasts far more diverse benefits to its community. Their mission statement reads: “Inspiring conservation of our marine environment begins right here at home.”
Join in on the Seattle Aquarium’s upcoming fundraising event, SeaChange on May 20th at 6 pm, to celebrate and learn more about the Seattle Aquarium’s diverse approach to conservation efforts and community connection.

Community Impact:
In line with their goal to foster an impact within their community, the Seattle Aquarium strives to create a sense of understanding for the importance of the ocean to life on earth through three programs: Beach Naturalist, Connection Program, and Octopus Survey.
Conservation Action:
The Puget Sound is host to a large diversity of lifeforms, nevertheless, our region along with others continues to struggle to preserve the health of our wildlife. The Seattle Aquarium hosts three programs to aid in conserving our marine life: Sea Otter Conservation, Ocean Policy and Advocacy, and Sea Turtle Rehabilitation.
Ocean Ethics:
While Seattle Aquarium is a strong voice in the realm of marine conservation, they take their efforts one step farther, ensuring that they live the way they teach by upholding their commitment to sustainability throughout every aspect of their operation.
